Forwarding Requests to a Local Service

On my laptop, I have a local wiki that is not exposed to the outside world. In order to use the wiki from a remote machine, I set up port forwarding by issuing the following command from the remote machine:

ssh -N -L 12345:127.0.0.1:80 laptop.domain &

In this example, laptop.domain is the name and domain of my laptop. The above command forwards requests on port 12345 to port 80 on the laptop. To use the wiki from the remote machine, I just access http://localhost:12345/path/to/wiki with a browser.
